About

Mountain Adventure Specialists

Summit Expeditions was founded when adventurers Sean Burgess and Caroline Leon met in a coffee shop in Dubai to exchange stories, ideas and ‘what’s next plans?’.

With Sean having just completed his first Guinness World Record, whilst Caroline was planning her next mountaineering world record, they both connected over a passion for mountain adventures.

Having both made Dubai their home for over a decade, they realised there wasn’t a single full-service mountaineering company based in the Middle East that could cater to the growing mountain adventure market. . . on that day Summit Expeditions was born!

"Our mission is to operate the highest quality expeditions on the world's bucket list mountain adventures."

SEAN BURGESS, FOUNDER

Sean is a British expat who has lived with his wife in the Middle East for 9 years. After spending several years in the corporate world, Sean's passion for adventure travel led him to co-found Summit Expeditions with the mission to guide people on incredible mountain adventures around the world.

As well as being a founder of Summit Expeditions, Sean is a double world record holder. In 2021 he crossed the UAE by foot, completing the 650km journey in under seven days, whilst in 2022 he completed over 51 hours and 420,000km on an indoor rower non-stop.

In doing these challenges Sean raised over $20,000 for Ugandan and Tanzanian based children's charities.

caroline leon, Founder

Caroline is an Australian born health & fitness advocate who recovered from serious injury to become an inspirational figure in the mountaineering community.

After falling from a climbing wall in 20215 and suffering life-threatening injuries, Caroline was told she might not walk again without crutches. However, within a few years, she was not just walking but attempting to break mountaineering world records, including being the first woman to summit all the mountains in the Middle East & the Arabian peninsula.

Caroline's upcoming challenge is a Guinness World Record to summit the highest volcano’s in each of the 7 continents in the fastest possible time, which she will attempt in 2022/23.
