Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU
Welcome to Kathmandu! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by a representative from our team and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, take the opportunity to explore the local area, perhaps visiting nearby markets and restaurants, or simply relax and acclimate to the bustling city atmosphere.
DAY 2: FLY TO LUKLA, TREK TO PHAKDING
Early in the morning, you’ll catch a flight to Lukla (2,860m) from either Kathmandu or Ramechaap. This short but spectacular flight provides a thrilling start to the trek, with stunning aerial views of the Himalayas.
Once in Lukla, the trek begins with an easy walk through traditional Sherpa villages to Phakding (2,610m). The path follows the Dudh Kosi River, allowing gentle acclimatization.
Spend your first night in the mountains at a comfortable teahouse in Phakding.
DAY 3: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR
Today’s trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) takes you deeper into the Khumbu region. The route crosses multiple suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags and passes through beautiful pine forests. As you approach Namche, the unofficial capital of the Khumbu region, catch your first glimpses of Mt. Everest. Namche Bazaar is a bustling Sherpa town with plenty of options to shop, dine, and relax.
DAY 4: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY IN NAMCHE BAZAAR
Spend the day in Namche for acclimatization. You might hike to the Everest View Hotel, offering panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Explore the Sherpa Culture Museum and the Everest Photo Gallery to gain insights into the history and traditions of the local people. This day helps your body adjust to the altitude, increasing your comfort and safety for the days ahead.
DAY 5: TREK TO TENGBOCHE
Trek to Tengboche (3,870m), known for its iconic monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region. The trail offers magnificent views of the Himalayan giants. Once at Tengboche, visit the monastery, where you may observe a Buddhist ceremony. The area is serene, with the monastery set against a backdrop of Ama Dablam, Everest, and other peaks.
DAY 6: TREK TO DINGBOCHE
Continue the journey to Dingboche (4,360m), traversing through lush forests and alpine meadows. As you ascend, the vegetation thins and the landscape becomes more rugged. Dingboche, often called the ‘summer valley,’ offers stunning views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. This village serves as another acclimatization stop with opportunities for nearby hikes to aid in adjusting to altitude.
DAY 7: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY IN DINGBOCHE
Take a second acclimatization day in Dingboche. You can engage in a short hike to Nangkartshang Peak or simply explore the village and its surroundings. The rest and additional altitude exposure are key to a successful summit push.
DAY 8: TREK TO LOBUCHE
From Dingboche, ascend to Lobuche (4,940m). This part of the trek takes you past memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits and continues through stark and stunning rocky landscapes. Lobuche is situated beneath Lobuche East and West, with views towards Pumori and other Himalayan giants.
DAY 9: TREK TO GORAK SHEP AND VISIT EVEREST BASE CAMP
Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,164m), the final stop before Everest Base Camp. After settling in, continue to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Standing at the base of the world’s highest mountain provides a profound sense of achievement. Explore the area, visit the tents of various expeditions (during the climbing season), and enjoy the surreal environment of this famous site.
DAY 10: HIKE TO KALA PATTHAR, RETURN TO PHERICHE
Early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) for sunrise views over Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks, providing the best vantage point in the region. Later, descend to Pheriche (4,240m), a small village offering a quieter environment for recovery.
DAY 11: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR
Begin your return journey by trekking back to Namche Bazaar. The descent is generally easier and faster, allowing more time to enjoy the scenery and reflect on the journey thus far.
DAY 12: TREK TO LUKLA
Continue your descent to Lukla, marking the final night of your trek in the mountains. This evening, celebrate with your team and reflect on your incredible journey to Everest Base Camp.
DAY 13: BUFFER DAY IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER AT LUKLA
This day is reserved as a buffer in case of bad weather, ensuring you have a safe and stress-free return flight to Kathmandu. If not needed, it can be used to explore Lukla or start your journey back early.
DAY 14: KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING
Dive into the rich history and culture of Kathmandu with guided tours to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit the historic Durbar Square, where kings were once crowned, and explore the sacred Swayambhunath Stupa, famously known as the Monkey Temple, perched on a hill overlooking the city.
DAY 15: FLY BACK TO KATHMANDU
Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla, concluding your adventure. Spend the day at leisure in Kathmandu, perhaps doing some last-minute shopping or enjoying a well-deserved rest at your hotel.
