Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN TANZANIA
Today we make our way to Tanzania!
After meeting at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we drive through the beautiful grass plains for about an hour until we reach our hotel in Moshi.
We will spend the remainder of the day preparing for our trek with an extensive kit check & group-climbing brief, before enjoying a traditional Tanzanian dinner and a good night’s rest.
DAY 2: MOMELLA GATE TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT
We will depart the hotel at around 8 am and drive half an hour to the Momella gate, which is the starting point of the trek. After the registration, we will start our trek accompanied by an armed ranger.
Along the route, we will catch spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Momella lakes. We might also encounter animals such as cape buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs and bushbucks, to name a few.
Our day’s trek will end up at Miriakamba Hut, where we will be spending the night.

DAY 3: MIRIAKAMBA HUT TO SADDLE HUT

While trekking through the forest we should keep our eyes peeled for wildlife and attractive wildflowers. Common animals include buffaloes and the black and white Colobus monkey.
After a short rest at Saddle Hut, we will set off on a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,810m). After reaching Little Meru’s summit, we will head back down to Saddle Hut where we will spend the night.

We will aim to reach the summit (4,566m) just in time for sunrise and on a clear day, the view of Kilimanjaro Peak in the distance is breathtaking.
